About LAMDA

Community LAMDA is a charitable non-profit organization that provides home and support services for people who live with severe mental illness, particularly schizophrenia.

We are part of the Community Spirit Program, and are a registered charity under Canada Revenue Agency. 

Community LAMDA operates two apartment buildings that are owned by Calgary Housing Company: 

Killarney: 1920 – 29th St. S.W. This building has 16 two-bedroom apartments that can house 32 people.
Mission: 316 – 20th Ave. S.W. This building has 30 one-bedroom apartments that can house 30 people. 

LAMDA was founded in 1987 by a psychiatrist Dr. Mary Dumka, who became the first President of Community LAMDA.

 
 
 
 

Referral Requirements:

  • City of Calgary

  • Self/Family/Case Manager
    (Must have Case Management Support)

  • Potential tenants will meet with staff for an intake interview.

  • Those being housed at the Killarney building will also be interviewed with the potential roommate.

  • Referral Form (PDF)

Other Items of Notice:

  • Language: English

  • Accessibility: bus routes available

  • Service Fee: Rent is 30% of tenants income,
    plus utilities

  • Time limit: time of stay is not limited

  • Wait Days: (We have no record at present)
